Teaching/research interests
My interests include many facets of vertebrate biology, and conservation in particular. Conserving our heritage of biological diversity is a focus for both my teaching and research.
I have considerable field experience, from research on rare and endangered vertebrates in the southern Appalachians to field study of the behavior of tree squirrels in the rainforests of Borneo. I am particularly interested in tropical natural history, and have visited Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, and Costa Rica in the new world tropics. Birding and herping are my favorite travel activities.
I find teaching very rewarding, and I hope to inspire my students with enthusiasm for the beauty and diversity of living organisms.
